Hybrid ferry on the Weser river!

The ferry "Farge," operated by the ferry company Fährgesellschaft Bremen-Stedingen (FBS), connects Berne and Bremen-Farge using an innovative hybrid propulsion system. Three Scania DI13 diesel engines work in tandem with an electrical system from Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik, incorporating intelligent energy management for maximum efficiency. The hybrid ferry was built by SET Schiffbau- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde.

The VSS "Emmerich" is the first workboat in the new fleet of the Rhine Waterways and Shipping Authority (WSA) and replaces the VSS Grieth after 29 years of service. Built by Schiffswerft Bolle GmbH in Derben, the vessel marks the launch of the fleet's modernization and demonstrates the high performance of this new generation of ships. It is equipped with state-of-the-art, custom-developed propulsion solutions realized in cooperation with Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik. The VSS Emmerich is powered by two Scania DC13 diesel engines combined with a diesel-electric propulsion system.

A prime example of efficient and environmentally friendly hybrid technology on German inland waterways.

The "Neuland" is one of three new hybrid ferries operated by HADAG Seetouristik und Fährdienst AG (Type 2030) in Hamburg, built by SET Schiffbau- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde. It features a modern diesel-electric propulsion system that combines a Scania DC16 engine with the Danfoss Editron system and Voith Schneider Propellers.

This propulsion concept ensures high energy efficiency and significantly lower emissions – making a vital contribution to sustainable shipping on the Elbe river.

Built by Baltic Workboats Ltd in Estonia, the vessel is equipped with two powerful Scania DC13 engines and features an automatic interceptor/trim system for optimal ride comfort and higher energy efficiency. The advanced diesel propulsion solution is already prepared for the use of e-fuels, demonstrating how proven technology can be seamlessly combined with sustainable solutions.

Next Generation Shipyards in the Netherlands

Research Vessel "Adriaen Coenen"

The research vessel "Adriaen Coenen" is the first ship in the new fleet of the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) and was commissioned in 2022 by Next Generation Shipyards in the Netherlands. It features two Scania DC13 diesel engines marinized by ScanDiesel, which provide high efficiency and reliability while enabling precise maneuverability in the shallow waters of the Wadden Sea. The vessel operates in the western Wadden Sea around Texel, regularly transporting scientists, assistants, and samples between the NIOZ and research stations such as the island of Griend, the Richel sandbar, and the port of Harlingen.

Pusher Tug Project "BIZON"

The "BIZON" project marks a significant milestone in European inland waterways shipping, particularly with regard to sustainability and efficiency. By executing the refit of a pusher tug that has been in service since 1978, we have set a new standard that combines high performance with environmental friendliness.

Our new customer, the Rhenus Group, in cooperation with Marco Service Sp. z o.o. in Poland, relies on innovative solutions for their inland waterways cargo transport. The pusher tug, which is used to transport containers, bulk commodities, and general cargo, is equipped with a powerful Scania DC13 Stage V engine.
